The Corte Madera Larkspur Mother’s Club (or “CMLMC”)
was founded in 1993 as a member-led social, educational,
support group for mothers and families with children
from birth through age five. Every member is
encouraged to volunteer, participate, and share her
ideas and experience.
Benefits of membership include playgroups, special interest groups such as book club, gardening and trail running, mom's nights out, family events, the Twin Cities Stroller newsletter, in-a-pinch meal delivery, and an active online community where members can get advice on everything from parenting to finding a plumber!
Our enthusiastic and engaged members make us different from larger local mother’s clubs. We personally welcome new members, and encourage them to make an immediate impact. Expect to make friends that you will see at the park, during preschool drop off, at the grocery store, or hiking up Mt. Tam.
The group is led by an active (and fun!) board of directors, who together coordinate events, help manage playgroups, publish the newsletter, and act as a liaison with the community. Although the majority of our membership lives in Corte Madera or Larkspur, we have members all over Marin, including Mill Valley, Ross, San Rafael, Greenbrae, and beyond. We have over 210 member families representing nearly 350 kids with an average age of about 3.5 years old. We have experienced record growth over the last five years - and are at our highest membership levels ever!
Our guiding principles are:
- Maintain a non-judgmental, inclusive attitude
- Celebrate successes and efforts, and the importance of motherhood
- Strive to make decisions my consensus, while respecting differences
- Provide a nurturing and supportive environment
- Acknowledge that one gets out of the club what one puts in
- Take personal responsibility and exercise sound stewardship
